After waiting nearly five years since the release of the U.S.-exclusive Shunbun (SBGA413) and Taisetsu (SBGA415) releases, Grand Seiko has finally released new textured dial watches for the U.S. market.
The SBGA507 and SBGA509 come with a blue-gray and salmon-pink dial, respectively, and sport a unique kirazuri textured dial that sparkles in the sunlight and is reminiscent of a traditional Japanese woodblock printing pattern.

Both watches are powered by Grand Seiko’s Calibre 9R65 movement and come in the revamped 44GS case measuring 40mm in diameter and crafted from stainless steel. As a proud owner of the SGBA415 (which I’ve done a full 30-minute review of), these new textured dials are a reminder that Grand Seiko is the king of unique dials that combine elements of nature, art and Japanese historical flair.
To be honest, I felt Grand Seiko’s catalogue was getting a bit stale, so these new models with completely new dials and case materials are a welcome sign of Grand Seiko’s commitment to the U.S. market. Both models go on sale in the fall for $5,600 and represent an exclusive, revamped offering for the U.S. market.
