Are we all sleeping on the Longines Spirit line of watches? Recently, I saw a few watch bloggers discussing the newest iteration of the Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT, but Longines has been producing the “Spirit” line of watches for a few years now, and it’s flown under the radar.

Back in 2020, Longines introduced a new 40mm pilot’s watch under the new “Spirit” line with 5 gold stars on the dial and raised applied numerals. It wasn’t until a friend of mine purchased the titanium version that I noticed Longines had a hit on their hands: a watch decidedly inspired by vintage aesthetics but designed with modern enthusiasts in mind.

Other iterations of the Spirit quickly followed including bi-compax chronographs and GMTs with ceramic bezels and completely reasonably price tags.

The latest Zulu Time GMT is a COSC-certified chronometer traveler GMT cased in a perfectly tailored 39mm grade 5 titanium case with an anthracite dial and a “bi-finished” ceramic bezel that gives Rolex a run for its money. All of this for under $4,500 and it is truly shocking that the watch industry has been sleeping this hard on Longines.
