New Watch Alert: M.A.D. 1 "S" (2024)

The brilliant minds at MB&F have outdone themselves with the release of the latest iteration of the M.A.D.1. The M.A.D.1 is MB&F’s way of giving back to its everyday fans – while MB&F’s “creations” are horological masterpieces with commensurate stratospheric prices, the M.A.D.1 was designed for enthusiasts to access Max Büsser’s designs at a fraction of the cost.

Since 2021, the M.A.D. Gallery has raffled off different versions of the M.A.D.1 to enthusiasts with different colors – including a shamrock green version for those “unlucky” enough to not have won in any of the three prior raffles.

This latest creation is the M.A.D.1 "S", which made three main improvements to the prior version, all of which lend to the "S" in the title: (1) a "s"limmer 15mm case design, (2) a "s"ingle cylinder time display and (3) a "S"wiss movement made by La Joux-Perret. I felt the prior version left room for some improvement with a bulky 18.8mm thick case and a generic Japanese movement, so these improvements are extremely on-point.

Once again available only via a raffle for 2900CHF, only 1500 examples of the ice-blue version will be available to the public, and you can bet I’ve already submitted my raffle ticket!
